Do NOT rake leaves into the streets

When cleaning leaves in the yard, property residents are asked to NOT rake leaves into the street. The City does not pick up leaf piles. Leaves left in the street can clog drainage inlets, slow down rainwater runoff and cause flooded streets and even sidewalks. The standing water damages pavement and creates a safety hazard. Removal of leaves is the responsibility of the property resident while maintaining drainage of the streets is the responsibility of the City.

Raked leaves are to be put in the GREEN WASTE bin and put out at the curb on your regular trash pick-up day. If desired, residents can order an additional GREEN WASTE bin or schedule a separate GREEN WASTE bin pick-up by calling Mid Valley Disposal Systems at (559) 237-9425. There is a charge for this service.

If you have questions call the Chowchilla Public Works Department at (559) 665-8615, ext. 789.
