Eligibility Requirements

Application Process
Obtain Your Application Packet
- Pick up a complete CCW application packet in person at the Chowchilla Police Department, located at 122 Trinity Avenue, Chowchilla, CA 93610, OR download the forms below.
- The packet includes written instructions, FAQs, a list of authorized CCW class instructors, the Request for Live Scan Service form, and the California DOJ Standard Application for a Concealed Weapons Permit.
Attend an Approved CCW Training Class

- A live-fire exercise and a demonstration of safe firearm handling are required.
Complete the DOJ Standard Application
- Fill out the application packet entirely and truthfully. (Note: Do not sign sections that require a witness signature; these will be signed in person during your appointment.)
- Complete the “Request for Live Scan Service” form as part of your packet.

- After processing and receiving background clearance from the DOJ and FBI (typically 6–12 weeks), you will be notified to schedule a follow-up appointment to pick up your permit and pay the $30.00 issuance fee. This covers the time our staff will spend on the background check as well as cost for the ID card and filing.
